Season 2021/22, we’re ready for you. Here’s what I have to say before we kick things off at the Mendizorroza on Aug. 14.
This will be my fourth season with the club of my dreams. Unfortunately, our preparations didn’t include a big road tour this year. But our group has trained intensely and vigorously over the past three weeks. It is always exciting to work with a new trainer and to focus on different accents. Our group is experienced and picks up ideas very quickly. I can honestly say that the team is ready to kick off our first La Liga game against Deportivo Alavés.
La Liga has become increasingly competitive over time. The teams are constantly strengthening their game, getting stronger every year. This makes every game a fun challenge. Big score differences between top clubs like we experienced in the past are becoming the exception. We’re at the forefront of an exciting La Liga season. We will have to excel constantly, match after match.
As Real Madrid players, this is our duty. We are part of the most successful club in the world so we must aim for the top. Every competition and every match deserves our full attention. The cup, La Liga, the Champions League: we have to give it our all. For ourselves, for the club, but more importantly, for our fans. It is an honour to be able to compete for all those trophies with the fans watching. I can see our team is in good shape. I have every confidence in my teammates. Personally, I hope to maintain (and exceed) the level I reached last season.
Football is my passion; it’s my life. And that includes the fans. Playing in packed stadiums again, sporting the colours of Real Madrid, in front of our fans: the thought alone makes me happy. Winning matches, helping the team, our club, all of these will drive us to set the bar higher this season. Watch us.
