10 seconds that changed football history

How I experienced the moments that led up to our winning goal against Japan at the 2018 World Championship.

Rostov, Russia, July 2nd, 2018. It’s 2-2 in the 94th minute of the game when I grab the ball from the corner and toss it as quickly as possible to Kevin De Bruyne. It took 10 seconds from there to Nacer Chadli's goal. I've seen the replay a couple of times, but actually I don't need the images to relive the event. It was such an intense moment, so much was at stake. Months, years, weeks of hard work leading up to victory. Things could have been so much different if Nacer did not score, if Romelu didn’t let the ball pass by, if Thomas didn't perform that spectacular run, if Kevin didn’t give that pass, if I had waited 1 second longer, if... But we did make it work. That one goal did not only save our tournament, it made our team so much bigger. It set Belgium on fire.
